Spring Break Wrap Up

Our final night on anchor for spring break was spent at Tod Inlet. After going for a nice long walk in the adjacent marine park, we wandered into a nearby neighborhood (it feels weird to sail into a place that feels so remote and then walk 1km and be in a suburb, haha) and parked ourselves on a curb to wait for our pizza to arrive. Thirty minutes later we were paddling back to Splash with pizza in hand and tucking inside for the night to watch a show and enjoy a glass of wine.
We departed reasonably early the next morning for Maple Bay. After our not-so productive time on anchor we wanted to wrap up some loose ends before flying home and some of those loose ends required a trip to the chandlery in Nanaimo.
After refueling at the marina, we successfully docked Splash (with 15 knots of wind, no easy feat) and hustled into the city. We demonstrated remarkable discipline in our shopping and only left with a few extra jugs of coolant, a new furling line, a stiffer deck brush, and the tools required for splicing lines. Our energy faded quickly and we barely knocked off the easy items from our list before calling it an early night. One thing we did manage to do was get the washing machine running! A washing machine on board is a game changer and we were stoked that it worked properly, the water went where it was supposed to, and the clothes emerged squeaky clean. A nice final win for the week!
The next morning was a flurry of cleaning inside and out. While Brad gave the top deck an intense scrub in anticipation of our SeaDek being installed, I gutted the inside and got a few extra cupboards cleaned out, organized, and consolidated. Before we knew it, we were off to the airport and headed home.
At the time I write this, we are waiting only 15 days until we are back on board, 49 days until our 5 week summer adventure, and 59 weeks until we set sail for Mexico! We. Cannot. Wait.
