Hey guys! If you’re seeing this, thanks for liking or following our page and choosing to follow along on our journey! Your interest is great for my ego. Ha. I figured I’d start things off with some introductions and a little bit of backstory as to how we got here.

In 2019, Brad and I were formally introduced to the wonderful world of sailing. Thanks to our friends Eric and Cheryl, we got to spend the most amazing week sailing the sunshine coast aboard our first charter boat, Baracka II, a 40’ Beneteau. We were hooked. I still claim this to be one of the best trips of my life -- we had an absolute blast with our friends and I will never forget the amazing time we had on the water. It wasn’t long after our first trip that we began planning the second, and in 2021 we spent another 10 days on the Salish Sea, this time exploring Desolation Sound. Things really escalated after that… in 2023 we travelled to the British Virgin Islands and took our sailing international, and at this point in time, Brad and I knew this was something we weren’t going to grow tired of. In September of 2023, we decided to pursue our skipper licences so we could charter in the Mediterranean and beyond. Much of the fall was spent studying for our coastal navigation exams before we headed to Vancouver for a week of hands-on learning with Challenge Sailing School. Our time on board was jam-packed and not easy… it was a ton of material to cover and I really don’t learn well under pressure, so there were many highs and many lows, but we accomplished a TON and we both passed our Basic and Intermediate certifications, earning us our IYC and ICC qualifications, as well as our marine radio certification. (don’t let these credentials fool you -- I still make up the phonetic alphabet as I go). With a nice little resume under our belts, we booked our own charter and spent a week in Turkey, sailing just the two of us and learning a ton along the way (see a trend?).

Turkey was intimidating for many reasons. First, it was a completely new country to us and totally new sailing waters. Anchorages were incredibly crowded and we were forced to practice some trickier skills early on (within hours of boarding… eek). But with each day we grew more confident, and by the end of our seven days, we were wishing we’d booked a second week!

We returned home at the end of a month of travelling feeling more certain than ever that we wanted to try the liveaboard, cruising lifestyle. In an effort to stick to our initial five year plan, we thought we’d charter in Canada for a few weeks in the summer of 2025, but as summer turned to fall we really started to ask ourselves what we were waiting for. Life is short and it can change in an instant -- why were we waiting to do something we couldn’t go a day without thinking about?

We never would've guessed that 3 years later we'd be anchoring here with our own boat to ring in the new year!
